Purpose:

The Senior Learning Experience Designer is responsible for planning, creating, and maintaining a variety of learning solutions to support the learning and development of employees and the educational needs of the organization. The Senior Designer supports the organization's learning and development strategy, provides mentorship to the Learning Experience Design team and guides their work. The Senior Learning Experience Designer works under the guidance and general oversight of, and reports directly to, the Director of Learning and Development.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assess the needs of the learners using learning theories and instructional design models to determine the best way to create a learning experience.
  • Design engaging and effective learning experiences. This includes developing objectives, creating content, designing activities, and selecting appropriate assessment methods.
  • Responsible for large-scale curriculum design and course mapping.
  • Create and manage a detailed project plan to ensure quality standards and timelines for deliverables are met.
  • Utilize needs analysis to address learning and performance gaps.
  • Scope and define outcome-driven learning objectives.
  • Use technology to enhance the learning experience. This can include video, audio, simulations, gamification, and social media to create an immersive and interactive learning experience.
  • Identify and select the appropriate approaches and technologies that follow sound principles of learning theory and align to the specific learning opportunity.
  • Apply advanced adult learning theories into practical, application-based leadership learning strategy.
  • Deliver learning material using a variety of instructional techniques or formats, both in person and virtually, such as role-playing, simulations, team exercises, group discussions, and instruction.
  • Conduct reviews of materials with appropriate parties, such as SMEs, the design team, and target audience.
  • Proactively collect and incorporate feedback from leaders and stakeholders.
  • Continuously evaluate, report, and improve existing learning solutions.
  • Administer and manage the organization’s Learning Management System.

Mentoring and Team Leadership:

  • Under the guidance of the Director of Learning and Development provide leadership to Learning Experience Design team in terms of identifying resourcing, coaching, and work planning.
  • Under the guidance of the Director of Learning and Development, provide guidance and constructive feedback to the Learning Experience Design team.
  • Ensure a collaborative relationship between Learning Experience Designers and all departments to ensure the design and timing meet requirements.
  • Challenge and support the Learning Experience Design team.
  • Effective and clear communication with Learning Experience Design team.
  • Foster a positive team environment.

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities:

  • Expert in shaping the development of new learning experiences and the enhancement of existing programs.
  • Advanced graphics and video creation/editing experience preferred, (e.g., Photoshop, PowerPoint, Illustrator, Vyond).
  • Advanced experience creating learning materials using Articulate 360 or Adobe Captivate.
  • Experience using gamification principles and application to learning experiences.
  • Advanced knowledge of Learning Management Systems.
  • Skilled in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Exceptional organizational skills, attention to detail, and problem-solving skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated sound judgment in making decisions with minimal supervision.

Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • 5 years of training or teaching experience.
  • 3 years learning experience design experience.

Compensation: $85,000
